Fred Wildgust will stand for Parliament against Paul Murphy

Fred sent out the following email today....

Dear Group Members

In today’s Freepress you will see an article about me. It is publicly announcing that I intend to stand as an Independent Parliamentary Candidate in the Torfaen constituency, I didn’t inform you prior to the announcement in the press as I am well aware that some members of the group feed information directly back to the Labour party. I had to keep this as quiet as possible both for political and financial reasons. The timing of the announcement has been critical because by May 10th 2010, there will have to be a general election called by the government. This gives us a maximum of 362 days to change history and make a Torfaen, a better place to live and work. I ask you to pledge your support to this campaign in anyway you can… Please call me 07852268419, email me, stop me in the street or just knock on my door, let’s do this together. I have no serious money to fight this campaign it will be done on a shoestring and with lots of physical effort on my part. On May the 18th there is a community meeting planned where residents of Torfaen are welcome to meet me and discuss issues that affect their lives, the meeting is an open forum and commences at 5.30 at the Ponypool Civic Centre.

It has always been my intention to stand, the day after I won my seat on the council I had made the decision to stand against Paul Murphy. I have even made a point of telling him face to face to prevent any doubt. I have been informed that he does worry about things, so why not give him something real to worry about other that how much more he can squeeze of the parliamentary expenses system. Paul Murphy is a good man, but he is a bad local Parliamentarian. He is so wrapped up in his ministerial duties that he does not deal with the needs of Torfaen, this is compounded by the fact that he is so closely linked to the Torfaen’s Labour Council he will not challenge them or hold them to account. If he had the interest in Torfaen at heart, he would be confronting this council over the mess they have made of it over the past twenty plus years since he took his seat in Westminster.

You may be thinking why should I support Wildgust, he will be just like the rest.. Well you are very wrong, I know the value of a pound, I know what needs to be done to develop Torfaen and I actually care about people…. Our local political representatives have completely lost touch with reality, we need a fresh start a politician that is free of party politics and will listen to the voice of the people, represent their views and then act in the best interest of Torfaen and its residents…

No longer can the party politics be allowed to control our lives without the people of this fair land being able to challenge a clearly bad decision. It is important to note that over the coming weeks and months I will be attacked in the press, I will not react by entering into personal insults and mud slinging… There are better ways to win, its important just to focus on the real goal of a free Torfaen.

I await your thoughts

Fred

Why are you one of an increasing number of councillors who only give out a mobile number? If I want to phone you it will be more than a quick message and I don't want to pay a premium rate. Is not your land line subsidised by the council?

On the main subject, when you calm down you may make a good local councillor and your willingness to communicate with the people is definately a shining example to all those councillors, who normally only get in touch at election time.

But do you really think you are parlimentary material?
Are you not intent on gaining more experience and finishing the job you have started in Torfaen first?
Might you split the anti-labour vote and actually increase Paul Murphy's chances?
Can you walk on water?

Ask your six best friends to tell you anonymously whether they think you should stand, that is my advice.

I laughed out loud reading that you 'listen' to people. On the number of occasions that I have spoken to you, you have spent the time looking over my shoulder in case someone of more importance should walk by!

Being an MP or even a councillor means you need to get on with people. Wildgust.... or whatever is name was before he came here... has not demonstrated that. In actual fact he has alienated almost anyone he tries to "rope in".

He has failed to get support in any of his motions to council due to his "character faults". We need someone who gets results, not another "self perpetuating no hoper" This appears to be another phase of the "Fred Wildgust Story".

His hapless demonstration in his confrontation with Paul Murphy showed that he is unfit to represent us in any capacity. onlookers were "disgusted" with him.

He introduced himself thus; " Mr Murphy, I am Fred Wildgust and I will be going to Westminster in place of you. So tell Gordon Brown I am Coming".

I..thought it was up to us??

Are you Independent? Peoples Voice...sorry they threw you out. Or are you a labour mole, did you not try to to stand for labour in the council elections, only to be rejected and with an anger to labour. Did you not declare in the first meeting of the Torfaen Peoples Coalition, that you "have always been a labour man" eventually they even threw you out.

MP....my a..e

Fred, you are so funny!!?? You only got in as councillor because people did not vote for labour at that time. The amount of votes you got was laughable. If you didn't walk around with your head up your a@@e you would see what a laughing=stock you have become!

Do u think he will be any good? Has he EVER seen any of his electorates' complaints thru to completion? Uh, no - none that I am aware of.....

I see the 'party of one' has fulfilled his agenda of 'selecting' himself for the General Election.
How long do you think it will be before he falls out with himself, or, is expelled, and splashed all over the Free Press front page accusing:

"Fred Wildgust of betraying...err...Fred wildgust!'?

When pressed by the entrepid Free Press reporter, the three times-expelled-politician, said: "I could never get on with him, in fact I cannot get on with anyone, other than me, and even now we have fallen out".

It was pointed out to NMr Wildgust that he had exhausted all possible parties locally, and was asked, by the reporter'. Where now?

To which Mr Wildgust replied "it's just a run of bad luck really. In this era of self0destruction for politicians, I have thought long and hard about what I might have brought to these sereies of mi-haps, but can/, honestly say the problems rest with everyone else.

Never the less, I have decided for the sake of my ambitions to change my name, change my party, and come out fighting".

This is fun of course.

How very true!!!! My personal impression as well when we spoke on several occasions. Infact he was more interested in his own opinion than mine, and I was the one with the local knowledge and history of the issue I was seeking his assistance with. What a knob. Door knob, of course, I wouldn't possibly be so rude, would I??

Fred was never seen in Pontypool Indoor Market.....until, he realised that Paul Murphy was opening a new stall - no he was not looking for alternative employment - he then proceeded to make a fool of himself....not for the first time.

Leading up to the announcment of his canditature and after..you cannot keep him out.

His excuse was that he could not take his dog in there....well Fred neither can we, so, there's no conspiracy.

Carpetbagger's like you are 'ten a penny' you have never seen anything through to a successful conclusion. You continually seek the 'limelight' and engage in 'self promotion'. The one thing voters do not need now is another politician who has no idea what 'humility' means.

I agree with all the comments about Fred not seeing through any of the issues represented to him... did he sort out the illegal dangerous nusiance parking in St James Field - Hell no! It is worse than ever. He said the law would take care of it, No Fred they WON'T - that's why we the ones who live in your ward and pay council tax sought out your full representation. Did he sort out the litter and rats from the rear of takeaways on Hanbury Rd..look for yourselves when you drive by...it is worse than ever. This is a conservation area. It may be that you haven't a clue or just are incompetent or just don't care about the issues that matter to the very people who voted for you. See it through - get it sorted - do it now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WE ARE STILL WAITING. Let's see if he responds shall we, we are losing our charity and patience. We will remeber come voting time....just like we did with Labour.

Yes, but look on the bright side......if he got voted in we would never see him again so come on everybody, send him some money for his campaign cos he's so poor, aaahhh.

nutcracker said...

Where do I send the money??????

thenamesfreddontforgetit said...

I think we should start a march and/or petition or stand outside the civic centre with buckets and see how much we can raise for him. We can't do much worse than him after all!

nutcracker said...

Seriously...having read his website, I found it so full of absolute garbage. With claims that are at best ..dubious.

His friend...yes...his friend presented the council with a petition to video record, council proceedings, and place them online.

Where in god's name has he been for the last year???? It is not what happens in the council chamber that is of interest to us, it is what takes place outside it. The proceedings are still an "anadine" exercise with the "hangers on" voting with them.
It is another attempt by Fred to place himself in the limelight with his rantings.

Whilst we are talking about labour's co-conspiritors, they should know of the "utter contempt" they are held in by the labout hierachy.

Thick skinned they must be!!!!

Let's not get too personal about Fred, suffice to say he is not Parliamentary material, but then neither am I. He will just not get in and his confidence is a sign of his incompetance. His previous antics and this newest venture are just drawing attention away from achieving the desire of the people of Torfaen; that is a more democratic system.

He is also allowing the famous five to justify their continued desertion by tainting the opposition.

thenamesfreddontforgetit said...

You have hit it on the head! He does only want the limelight and notoriety which is why he is not interested in the town's problems. He wants to create a nuisance of himself so that everyone talks about him which is exactly what we are doing!
His web site shows his ignorance, the many jobs he has been in is very suspect. Can he possibly have been thrown out of them all? Who knows?
He is creating trouble for no good reason except to keep his name in the press. Why is he sticking his nose into Greenmeadow Farm? Why care so much about the colour of gates?

I think Fred Widgust will make an excellent M.P. particularly since he has no policies so he may be more at home and better off joining the Liberal Party, which is the only party he has yet to fall out with and with the same prospect of success - perhaps they can all chip in to cover the loss of deposit.

One thing he may wish to consider before he starts his campaign though is, to round up the millions of certified votes that he gained on his triumphant march for democracy and all the people that supported him when he did his Emily Pankhurst impression outside Town Hall.

He certainly has a wealth of experience with his background: councillor, campaigner, lorry driver, careers adviser, handyman, charity worker, college worker, worked in many schools throughout wales, plumber, plasterer and now Ex-miner...was that welsh coal or south african diamonds...has he entered Britains got Talent yet?

So if he can just successfully advise NATO and resolve the Korea nuclear missile problem he'll get my vote!

Go Fred Go!!!

Thanks for the comments... Its very funny to read. The best one is the perhaps I need a new boiler. The answer is if I did its not a probelm I could install my own at no cost to the British tax payer.. I still intend to stand against Paul (New Boiler) Murphy and I am sure he is quiete worried. A prominent opposition councillor challenging him, his expenses claims, the failure of the labour government and finally his inability to support the people of Torfaen... Just look at his voting record in parliament. Do you want to be represented by a puppet or do you want an MP that will challenge the council and represent the real views of the public in Westminster.

You decide.

The famous five are always looking for faults and weaknesses in the opposition to justify their continuing support for labour.

Fred, you are doing a marvellous job; Fiona, Maria, Jeff, Alastair and Peter are so grateful!

I don't see what's wrong with a fresh start, a new MP. To my mind Fred has been active in the community and is a hard-talking man, something that can shake up local politics. Contrary to other comment, Fred has been attentive and sympathetic of any concerns that have been raised, and has explained decisions well, even if they are unpopular. He's got my vote.

nutcracker said...

Pontypolitics say's "Fred has got his vote"

Perhaps he should have been in the council chamber at the last full meeting. He was like a "bumbling fool" outshone and outplayed by even the labour leader.

Should we not wait to see what policies are there from other candidates before flinging our votes away.

So....come on fred "where are your policies"? you will need them when the debate starts. You can't do that by email.

I found it really funny that Fred signed his comment as 'anonymous' then went on to tell us it was him. I rest my case!!!!

Hi Nutcracker

in an earlier post you said

"Whilst we are talking about labour's co-conspiritors, they should know of the "utter contempt" they are held in by the labout hierachy."

Can you elaborate? Please can you get in touch with the website editor? Anonymity assured

My contacts within the labour party - no names no pack drill - tell me that in group meetings they are derided.

Unguarded comments by certain members of the heirachy leave it in no doubt that they are being used.

Yes....I can hear you say, we knew that, but I had no inclination that it was as bad has told to me.

I am also told by a member of long standing that they now realise that Bob (bungalow) Wellington is cause of most of the party's ills locally, and are searching for an alternative.
