What's all the fuss about? Democracy is alive and well in Torfaen and hence the May 1st results.Whatever is said, Labour is still the biggest political grouping and the only one which apparently could form an alliance with other groupings to form a working arrangement so that the Council can get on with the job its meant to do.Cllr Wildgust's petition about changes to selecting the cabinet I'm afraid is typical of his style -plaenty of suggestions without thinking them through first.Laying down hard and fast rules about the selection of cabinet members does not take into consideration other very important factors which make this a complex choice. Team work, political experience, ability to do the job, having relevant experience of the portfolio area are all important consderations.Reducing such choice to simplistic rules as Cllr Wildgust wants is just another example of his superficial approach to issues.I think it time that he stop jumping from one issue to another like a headless chicken and start learning what being a councillor involves other than self publicity. As for his comments about Torfaen needing an incinerator-he is not going to ake himself popular with the folks in New Inn!

I am local to the Shanks site and an not a MIMBY. What should we do with our left over rubbish, send it to China to burn? Come on, what about sorting out our own rubbish first, and that goes for the self serving Labour cllrs 'running' our borough, more like running it into the ground. Pontypool is rundown and derelict. The town hall offices are so over grown with weeds and litter that Wellington and James should be ashamed of themselves. We live in this town and they who have to say so to clean it up REFUSE to do so to punish us for voting in cllr Wildgust. SHAME SHAME SHAME

I agree that we need to manage our own domestic waste residue responsibly but this needs an informed debate about the options available, which might involve incineration and energy from waste but this facility would have to be a regional one. This would require a very large site and one which is accessible to all authorities and I cannot see Torfaen having such a site.
